Maison Martin Margiela x H&M Clothing & Accessories

Yesterday I showed you the footwar, today its the turn of the clothing & accessories. The obvious eye-catchers are the metallic scarfs and the guitar-shaped messenger bag, but the two high-top sneakers and array of slip-on’s and boots are hard to overlook. Mixed in with more traditional formal wear, such as a black and a tan 3-piece suit, is an inside-out mix denim coat, a two-tone blazer, a straight-jacket-inspired leather jacket, and a mix of sweaters. That’s not even half of it. Check all below the jury is out for me….

Maison Martin Margiela for H&M 2012 Autumn Winter Footwear Collection

Never a label to follow blindly in the footsteps of others, Maison Martin Margiela‘s collaboration with Swedish retailer H&M will further distinguish itself from its predecessors with a collection of footwear. The Belgian fashion house announced earlier that the collection will consist of “re-editions” of archival classics and the shoes will follow suit — silhouettes taken from MMM’s back catalogs and reiterated for the mass consumer. Ardent fans of the label will likely recognize the 6 models that will release with the clothing — a gum-soled, high-top sneaker in white and red colorways, along with a slip-on and ankle boot that will be offered in tan, black and paint-treated versions. Look for more details of the November 15 release as they surface.

Maison Martin Margiela for H&M Will Be “Limited Re-Editions”

In preparation for Maison Martin Margiela‘s contribution to the ubiquitous styling of fashion retailer H&M, new revelations suggest that the collection will contain re-released favorites from past Margiela collections. As a proponent of reducing the exclusivity of high fashion, the Belgian brand will detail the season of origin and year inside each garment, while this project is not expected to be extended past a single release in H&M locations. Transitioning Margiela to a wider audience, expect more information to become available in months to come.

H&M Autumn Winter 2012 Lookbook

Despite being categorized under the umbrella of “fast fashion,” H&M has always maintained a decidedly high-end approach to its seasonal lookbooks, imagery and visuals. Presenting its Winter 2012 range, the Swedish retail and fashion giant debuts a minimalist and cleaned up pictorial highlighting its range of menswear. For this season, the brand initially displays an affinity for all things formalwear via tailored blazers, skinny ties and knitwear. While overtones of formal garb are heavily promoted.Obviously the swing to streetwear is is there in Letterman jackets & hoodies. Dont expect any of these items to be amazing quality or last more than a season..

H&M Autumn Winter 2012 Lookbook

H&M has rolled out their Fall 2012 lookbook which showcases many diverse and upscale pieces in a variety of distinct colors. Presenting their latest in a straight forward manner, items like suit jackets, turtleneck sweaters, tailored pants, chinos, cords, and mid-thigh coats are paired with similarly upscale accent pieces like leather brogues, gloves, scarves and colored socks. In speaking about their Fall lookbook Andrea Lowenstam, Head Menswear Designer for H&M commented, “The suit is the most important garment for men at H&M this fall, and it’s amazing to see how it can be worn in so many modern ways. Traditions mix with new ideas to build a new wardrobe that’s all about personal style.”
