Balmain Spring Summer 2013 Collection

A military inclination to Balmain’s latest collection is at the forefront, tying together themes of classic British menswear spanning across several decades. Buttoned shirt-jackets and overcoats boasting strong epaulettes and a notable assortment of breast pockets characterize much of the release. Army greens stand out amongst desert tones, while a thorough consideration of versatility in style is a big part of the collection via a strong program of leather jackets and a modern tailored approach.

Stone Island 30th Anniversary 30/30 Jacket 0057154TTY2

20120628-091626.jpg

I know i keep banging on about this 30th anniversary collection but how can you stop with product like this…The 30-30 jacket is designed to embody 30 years of innovation, incorporating a range of Stone Island’s most advanced signature technologies. Combining an outer jacket and liner, both of which are reversible, the jacket may be worn in a total of 30 different configurations (yup that’s 30 jackets in one that’s ÂŁ52.50 per jacket!) The outer parka is comprised of Raso Gommato – rubberised cotton satin – with the brand’s proprietary Mussola Prismatica coating on one side and an anti-drop treatment. The internal jacket, which may also be worn over the parka, combines Stone Island’s legendary ‘Liquid Reflector’ treatment with their heat-reactive, microencapsulated pigment technology, which causes the jacket to change colour in response to temperature. Nike ID Air Max 90 Hyperfuse Pigeon By Staple Design

20120628-090430.jpg

The Reed Space introduces the NIKEiD Air Max 90 Hyperfuse in the brand’s infamous “Pigeon” colorway. The kicks were originally created by a fan, who emailed his design to Jeff Staple via the NIKEiD site. Jeff subsequently made a pair for himself and Instagrammed the final result, at which point he was besieged by commenters inquiring when the kicks would drop at the Reed Space (btw anyone can make a pair on NIKEiD). As Jeff says, “I decided to make it easy for people.” Meaning, the shoes will in fact drop at the Reed Space, packaged in a specially designed HUPBOX with an accompanying enamel Staple Pigeon pin.

Nike Roshe Run Autumn Winter 2012

The Nike Roshe Run sneaker has become one of the biggest successes for Nike with a brand new silhouette. We see the shoe all over the place and stores keep telling us that they cannot keep up with demand. We have to admit, we did not see it coming when we saw first samples of the lifestyle running shoe, but it looks very nice and is extremely comfortable as well. Nike keeps the momentum up and presents new colorways for Winter 2012.

Stone Island 30 Exhibition, Florence

Last week I had the pleasure to be invited to Stone Island’s  launch of an exhibition to celebrate 30 years of their existence, showing  off their extensive archive with over 200 items which seeing them in all their glory blew me away. The exhibition dates, outlines the treatments, production and processes that resulted in their creation. On display is the results of Stone Island’s experimentation and innovation that has made them the leading outerwear brand on the planet.  Some of the earliest ‘archive’ jackets on display are so innovative that other brands couldn’t produce them now 30 years on. If your a Stone Island fan or even just love amazing products get yourself there…

Tricker’s x Comme des Garcons Junya Watanabe MAN Wingtip Sneaker

Comme des Garcons have teamed up again with Tricker’s to great effect with the stand out designer Junya Watanabe working on another great rendition of this wingtip sneaker. Not for the first time have we seen this model come out, although this fall we can enjoy a new pallet of colors applied to the 4-hole wingtip suede design. With the classic welted sole replaced with a white rubber tennis sneaker styled sole it makes for a more subdued look

Stone Island 30th Anniversary- Tela Stella Jacket 00571544T1Y1

20120625-154733.jpg

With 2012 marking thirty years of Stone Island, the Autumn Winter collection is something of a celebration with a selection of anniversary pieces that revive and rework iconic styles throughout the brands history.

In 1982, Stone Island was founded with just one fabric in 6 different colours. Thirty years later, the exact replica from the first collection can be seen in this jacket. This exclusive fabric was inspired by a study on the technical and functional features of tarpaulins for military trucks. This cotton cloth is impregnated on both sides with contrasting pigment resin. The fabric undergoes a long lasting enzyme wash to achieve a faded appearance. The result is a wind resistant material, with a flavour of marine old weather corroded oilskin pieces. Available for Pre Order here.

Oakley x Eric Koston Tortoise Frogskins Sunglasses

20120625-083149.jpg

I wore Oakley Frogskins the first time round so when they got on the hype bus a couple of summers ago they didn’t float my boat in the rainbow of colours that were available but now they have had a tasteful remix via skateboarding legend Eric Koston. Part of Koston’s new Signature Series for Oakley, the shades get a much needed upgrade with a new and classic look in brown tortoise.
