Common Projects Spring Summer 2013

20130130-091745.jpg

When founders Prathan Poopat and Flavio Girolami started Common Projects, their mission was to create minimalist, comfortable sneakers, made in Italy using only the finest materials. In addition to a utilitarian design, the shoes were virtually anonymous, with exterior branding limited to the article number and shoe size, factory-stamped in gold foil near the heel. The brand’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection is largely an extension of that original mission statement, with new slip-on sneakers, tennis shoes and crepe-soled loafers joining reliable standbys like the Achilles and Tournament, finished in new colours and materials for spring.

Common Projects Achilles Wool Sneaker

Common Project‘s flagship silhouette, the Achilles, gets a burgundy-speckled, textured wool make-over leaving the brand’s usual premium calfskin leather build behind. Sitting atop a black rubber vulcanized sole, the low-top sneaker features silver specks across the entire burgundy upper, finished with matching laces and leather lining that tops out around the heel. The brand’s signature gold stamp noting the shoe’s size and style code is placed on the rear still.
