One of Britain’s best when it comes to luggage, Globe-Trotter, comes together with Maison Martin Margiela to create a unique, special edition 30″ Travel Suitcase. Coming with an already weathered and worn look fitting of a piece that has seen more miles than even Tom Stuker (look this man up!), the suitcase features a light grey leather exterior with abrasions and black skuff marks. Looking in quite pristine shape, however, are the tan leather straps, handles, and corners, which not only stand out from their quality, but for their contrast against the distressed aesthetic. Look for this case to hit MMM stores beginning this March.

For Spring/Summer 2013, Maison Martin Margiela retools its 22 Replica Sneaker with a distinctive hand-woven leather upper, suitable for warm weather and conferring a rough-hewn artisanal aesthetic to the traditional low-top silhouette. The made in Italy shoe sits on a durable gum rubber sole unit with Samba-inspired indoor sole tread, and comes equipped with a tabbed lacing system complemented with a tongue built with the same woven leather construction. Leather lining and a Margiela branded leather tongue tag round out the details. Buy here
Never a label to follow blindly in the footsteps of others, Maison Martin Margiela‘s collaboration with Swedish retailer H&M will further distinguish itself from its predecessors with a collection of footwear. The Belgian fashion house announced earlier that the collection will consist of “re-editions” of archival classics and the shoes will follow suit — silhouettes taken from MMM’s back catalogs and reiterated for the mass consumer. Ardent fans of the label will likely recognize the 6 models that will release with the clothing — a gum-soled, high-top sneaker in white and red colorways, along with a slip-on and ankle boot that will be offered in tan, black and paint-treated versions. Look for more details of the November 15 release as they surface.

In preparation for Maison Martin Margiela‘s contribution to the ubiquitous styling of fashion retailer H&M, new revelations suggest that the collection will contain re-released favorites from past Margiela collections. As a proponent of reducing the exclusivity of high fashion, the Belgian brand will detail the season of origin and year inside each garment, while this project is not expected to be extended past a single release in H&M locations. Transitioning Margiela to a wider audience, expect more information to become available in months to come.
There’s a whole lotta’ things Martin Margiela gets right, from clothing to bags to eyewear, they definitely know what they’re doing. They even manage to get kitsch right. Example, their wall hook designed after a classic shoe tree with a perfect finish in varnished lime. Simple, fun, perfect. 70 bucks if you want one!
