Maison Martin Margiela for H&M 2012 Autumn Winter Footwear Collection

Never a label to follow blindly in the footsteps of others, Maison Martin Margiela‘s collaboration with Swedish retailer H&M will further distinguish itself from its predecessors with a collection of footwear. The Belgian fashion house announced earlier that the collection will consist of “re-editions” of archival classics and the shoes will follow suit — silhouettes taken from MMM’s back catalogs and reiterated for the mass consumer. Ardent fans of the label will likely recognize the 6 models that will release with the clothing — a gum-soled, high-top sneaker in white and red colorways, along with a slip-on and ankle boot that will be offered in tan, black and paint-treated versions. Look for more details of the November 15 release as they surface.

Maison Martin Margiela for H&M Will Be “Limited Re-Editions”

In preparation for Maison Martin Margiela‘s contribution to the ubiquitous styling of fashion retailer H&M, new revelations suggest that the collection will contain re-released favorites from past Margiela collections. As a proponent of reducing the exclusivity of high fashion, the Belgian brand will detail the season of origin and year inside each garment, while this project is not expected to be extended past a single release in H&M locations. Transitioning Margiela to a wider audience, expect more information to become available in months to come.

H&M Autumn Winter 2012 Lookbook

Despite being categorized under the umbrella of “fast fashion,” H&M has always maintained a decidedly high-end approach to its seasonal lookbooks, imagery and visuals. Presenting its Winter 2012 range, the Swedish retail and fashion giant debuts a minimalist and cleaned up pictorial highlighting its range of menswear. For this season, the brand initially displays an affinity for all things formalwear via tailored blazers, skinny ties and knitwear. While overtones of formal garb are heavily promoted.Obviously the swing to streetwear is is there in Letterman jackets & hoodies. Dont expect any of these items to be amazing quality or last more than a season..

H&M Autumn Winter 2012 Lookbook

H&M has rolled out their Fall 2012 lookbook which showcases many diverse and upscale pieces in a variety of distinct colors. Presenting their latest in a straight forward manner, items like suit jackets, turtleneck sweaters, tailored pants, chinos, cords, and mid-thigh coats are paired with similarly upscale accent pieces like leather brogues, gloves, scarves and colored socks. In speaking about their Fall lookbook Andrea Lowenstam, Head Menswear Designer for H&M commented, “The suit is the most important garment for men at H&M this fall, and it’s amazing to see how it can be worn in so many modern ways. Traditions mix with new ideas to build a new wardrobe that’s all about personal style.”

Marni x H&M Men’s Collection

After showing you the men’s collection lookbook earlier, we now take a closer look at all the product that will release from the Marni at H&M Collection in the coming weeks.

The collection is rather big and it looks really nice, especially with summer in mind. The shirting with great prints and paneling is among out favorite, but the outerwear, shorts, pants, and accessories also look great. The collection features sunglasses, sneakers, sandals and some very solid looking bags.

“Marni’s collection for H&M is all about freedom and experimentation, Marni prints and colours intended to mix and match together in a playful way. Everything goes with everything, making African prints the perfect companion to Bauhaus modernity, and sporty silhouettes sitting with more feminine shapes. The collection also includes a full range of shoes, bags and charming accessories to create a total Marni look at H&M. Meanwhile for men, Marni offers a fresh take on menswear staples, with a subtle use of print and a softened use of colour.”

The Marni at H&M Collection will be released on March 8, 2012, at select H&M stores around the globe.

Lanvin for H&M Announcement

Edit: NOW OFFICIAL! H&M hints at its latest collaborative partner as the widely popular retailer releases a series of viral videos for an upcoming project. Not much detail is offered but the voice-over sound’s like that of Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz. Further details should be announced on September 9th, 2010 with a bit of information offered below. Stay tuned!
It looks like H&M has snared one of the hottest labels in Europe — Lanvin — for its next designer collaboration. According to market sources, the Swedish fast-fashion giant will unveil a project with Lanvin and its creative director, Alber Elbaz, within the next week.
On Tuesday, H&M launched a viral video campaign on its Web site and YouTube to build curiosity about its annual holiday designer tie-up. A series of black-and-white videos features stereotypical fashion designer types: a man in a skinny dark suit; a woman in an outlandish blouse and chunky jewelry. By midday Tuesday, H&M’s Facebook page was peppered with guesses — Bottega Veneta’s Tomas Maier and New York society dresser Carolina Herrera among them — posted by Web users.

The video ends with the date Sept. 9 — presumably when H&M will unveil details of its latest collaboration, which have ignited retail pandemonium annually since the retailer first partnered with Karl Lagerfeld in 2004. Other designers to have collaborated with H&M include Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons, Stella McCartney, Roberto Cavalli and Sonia Rykiel. A project with Lanvin would be a coup for H&M, given Lanvin’s status as one of the fastest-growing designer firms in Europe, and Elbaz’s drawing power as a fashion personality.
