Following in the no-pun-intended footsteps of Bootee Check, Spain’s Picasso Babe introduces a line of hype sneakers designed explicitly for babies. Each crocheted reappropriation is handmade and constructed entirely of cotton. Among the latest offerings are the adidas Yeezy 750 Boost, the Nike Air Yeezy II, and the Nike Air MAG. Fans of Kanye West will be pleased to know that several versions of the Air Yeezy are on offer including the coveted Air Yeezy II “Red October,” “Platinum” and “Black.” Although they’re certainly done as a hobby and just for kicks, the growing popularity of newborns in streetwear signals a shift in the subculture’s acceptance into the mainstream. If you like what you see, you can place an order via Etsy

Adidas x Kanye West Yeezy 750 Boost

IMG_9543-1So the Internet is on fire. Ibn Jasper recently took to Instagram to unveil the highly anticipated adidas and Kanye West collaboration which was set for an official unveiling in New York next week. The shoe features a gray hightop upper on what appears to be suede with a thick and robust forefoot strap seen. A bulky 3D element can be seen extending up the side of the shoe which provides coverage for a zipper closer while a vertically ridged sole completes the package. As the name would suggest, Boost cushioning can be seen from the outsole shot. Stay tuned for more details regarding the shoe that may potentially earn the moniker “Yeezyboost.”

Sneaker Sculptures by Jason Ruff

4

We’ve all felt it: The unique kind of envy that results from encountering something you want, but can’t afford. For artist Jason Ruff in his younger years, it was sneakers and cigarettes — which serve as materials for his latest project.

Using sharp scissors and infinite patience, Ruff has created perfect little replicas of classic Nike high-tops using nothing but the materials found in cigarette packs. OK, there’s some duct tape involved too. But you get the point. He describes it as “mixing the unattainable objects of my youth”, and yes — his creations definitely remind us of what it was like to be 15 and mischievous.

All things considered, these awesomely intricate little sculptures are bound to leave you wanting something. It’s just hard to decide if it’s a smoke or a new pair of kicks.

Nike Air Yeezy 2

Interesting read from Hypebeast about Hypetastic Air Yeezy 2…. Forging a new form of sport craftsmanship, the Nike Air Yeezy II blends classic Nike court breakthroughs with the performance and aesthetic demands of bringing hype to a crowd of thousands. A primal, tactile approach to technology runs throughout every element of the shoe. Armored animalistic forms imbue the upper. Hand skived anaconda textured leather quarter panels are embellished with a debossed Vac-Tech Nike Swoosh. The molded rear is sculpted with a reptilian-inspired spike, while an engineered strap with scaled down spikes was developed to offer a greater sense of symmetry and lock down. Bringing the inspiration forward from the late 1980′s basketball foundation of the original Nike Air Yeezy, the II is built on the Nike Air Tech Challenge II tennis shoe outsole and celebrates iconic Nike Cross Training silhouettes with the addition of the molded forefoot strap.

There’s absolute function at the Air Yeezy II’s core. Unnecessary padding was eliminated, and the foot-hugging tongue and plush collar are both comfortable and breathable. Fit was essential to the design with the goal to make the shoe slimmer than the original by tailoring it to Kanye West’s foot. The collar was also lowered to allow for greater movement. An obsessive approach to materials results in a luxurious mix of leather, rugged ballistic nylon and soft nubuck. Concealed but opulent details reference ancient civilizations, including a loop strap with hieroglyphics that spell out ‘YZY.’ Each screw on lace aglet is obelisk shaped, and the anaconda texture is echoed on the eyelets and leather lace toggle that carries the Roman numeral ‘II.’

The Nike Air Yeezy II in both Platinum and Black editions will release June 9, in limited numbers, at select global retailers.
