VANS Syndicate has just let loose with a few new colorways of the Authentic 69 Pro S for Spring 2013. Fitting in nicely within any sneaker collection, you have your choice of the kicks in a soft royal blue, cherry red, or black, each with a subtle checker print that blends into the rest of the monochromatic suede upper. The entire look pops between a snow white rubber sole and a black sock liner, while silver eyelets and a black ribbon for the heel accent provide a nice finish to the look.

Carhartt WIP x Vans Syndicate 2012 Winter Old Skool Camo

While camouflage has seen its fair share of the fashion spotlight over the past few years — having been used across everything from shirts and pants to accessories and shoes — Flecktarn camouflage is one of the lesser-tapped motifs. Said to be designed around the 1930s, the disruptive pattern was originally developed for use in woodland terrain and is traditionally seen in a mixture of three to six-color iterations. Laying claim to the iconic camo, Carhartt has once again aligned with Vans for a special Winter 2012 Old Skool option.

The pair dons the outdoor aesthetic quite well with the majority of the classic silhouette generously enveloped in the green, brown and black. While the disruptive pattern traces its way into the interior across the shoe’s footbed, hits of rich brown leather across the toe cap panel and along the lace vamp are a welcome delineation that effectively breaks apart the shoe’s layers. Metal eyelets, a supple corduroy tongue and threaded boot laces augment the aesthetic and provide a nice completion to the Old Skool.

Vans has teamed up with legendary skate duo Jason Dill and Anthony Van Engelen for a safari themed pack of classics. Featuring the Authentic Pro, Old Skool and Av Sk8 Low silhouettes, these three partners have created a ferocious collection that utilizes snakeskin, cheetah and leather throughout each respective upper. All three models are equipped with clear outsoles, special-edition packaging and a canvas bag. Look for this trio to hit select retailers in the very near future, but save me a 9 in the snakeskins!

WTAPS x Van Syndicate

As Vans has shown again and again this year, they can be an amazing partner to collaborate with. This upcoming shoe, done with WTAPS, shows the potential of what can happen when the versatile, Authentic, gets the design influence of a team as solid as WTAPS. WTAPS transforms the Authentic into a shoe that is simple, elegant, and Rockabilly-esque – a true juggling act, that in this case works beautifully. Available in black or oxblood leather, with a ridged outsold, and full leather lining. This is a tuxedo-grade Vans Authentic that makes some dress shoes look sloppy. These will be extremely limited, with availability starting in early December.
