Common Projects Spring Summer 2013

20130130-091745.jpg

When founders Prathan Poopat and Flavio Girolami started Common Projects, their mission was to create minimalist, comfortable sneakers, made in Italy using only the finest materials. In addition to a utilitarian design, the shoes were virtually anonymous, with exterior branding limited to the article number and shoe size, factory-stamped in gold foil near the heel. The brand’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection is largely an extension of that original mission statement, with new slip-on sneakers, tennis shoes and crepe-soled loafers joining reliable standbys like the Achilles and Tournament, finished in new colours and materials for spring.

Maison Martin Margiela Clear-Sole Oxfords

Always perfectly crafted, but with a twist, Martin Margiela executes its design language perfectly with their new oxfords. The vegetable tanned upper have a clean yet classic silhouette while a semi-transparent sole gives it that signature Margiela touch.

Christian Louboutin Fredapoitiers Studded Suede Loafers

Christian Louboutins aren’t just for the women in your life he makes movers for men too, and they are getting better & better in my opinion. The Fredapoitier loafer is made has black suede uppers, slip-on and features two rows of gunmetal studs along the bottom of the shoe next to a thin midsole red trim, black leather soles and the signature red on the bottom….pretty cool in my opinion.

Maison Martin Margiela for H&M 2012 Autumn Winter Footwear Collection

Never a label to follow blindly in the footsteps of others, Maison Martin Margiela‘s collaboration with Swedish retailer H&M will further distinguish itself from its predecessors with a collection of footwear. The Belgian fashion house announced earlier that the collection will consist of “re-editions” of archival classics and the shoes will follow suit — silhouettes taken from MMM’s back catalogs and reiterated for the mass consumer. Ardent fans of the label will likely recognize the 6 models that will release with the clothing — a gum-soled, high-top sneaker in white and red colorways, along with a slip-on and ankle boot that will be offered in tan, black and paint-treated versions. Look for more details of the November 15 release as they surface.
