Oliver Spencer Spring Summer 2013

Oliver Spencer presented its Spring/Summer 2013 collection at the Old Sorting Office on Friday as part of the inaugural London Collections: Men Spring/Summer 2013. Inspired by Russian modernism and the work of abstract painter Ben Nicholson, Spencer presented a refined collection of tailoring, knitwear and jersey pieces. The collection was debuted against the raw setting at the Old Sorting Office and includes bold pops of color. Check out the full looks below

With the London 2012 Summer Olympics just around the corner, designer Oliver Spencer teamed up with Seil Marschall and Selfridges to create this aesthetically pleasing ‘Olympic Survival Kit’. The cornerstone of the kit is the mini canoe pack from Seil Marschall for Oliver Spencer, which serves as a container for all the goods inside, including: cocunut water, Evian, Bicycle playing cards, a KWAY jacket, OS t-shirt, camera and a London guide book. The kit is highly limited at only 12 pieces hitting the market at London Oliver Spencer stores.

Topman Denim Jacket Project

Firstly I’m a huge fan of the classic denim jacket, and these are some of the best I’ve seen in a long time.

The Denim Jacket Project sees the high street store commission six British and American designers to have a crack at reinventing the classic jean jacket. It’s no easy feat: the jean jacket has long been a staple of men’s wardrobes. While fashions come and go (stone-washed, indigo or acid wash denim, slim fit or boxy), the general idea hasn’t changed a huge amount since Levi’s started producing them in the early 1900s.

One most high profile name on board is the British designer Oliver Spencer, known for his relaxed casual tailoring and outerwear. Here he has taken inspiration from the classic leather biker jacket and recreated it in a bright blue denim.

I expect one of the most popular jackets will be the one by Katie Eary, who has used bleached out denim and added a detachable borg collar. It’s an unassuming, simple design – until you unbutton it. It’s lined in a bold animal print. Very on-trend this spring is the offering by Topman Design, which is my particular favourite Topman’s in-house design studio. It’s based on a 1930s shape and has been created made from a dark, polka dot printed denim. The other designers on board are Lou Dalton, Shaun Samson and Mark McNairy. See all the designs below

Denim Jacket Project launched yesterday , April 4, and is available at Topman Oxford Circus, Topman General Store Shoreditch, Topman General Store Seven Dials, Topman.com, Harrods, Selfridges, Topman Manchester Arndale.

Oliver Spencer Spring Summer 2012 Runway Show

Oliver Spencer returned to the catwalk yesterday to display his upcoming Spring/Summer 2012 Collection.  As a part of London Fashion Week’s menswear day, the show took place at the Mercer Street studio in Covent Garden and offered a supremely confident offering, rich with boisterous color and texture.  To emphasize the appropriate season, an eclectic mix of models took the runway donning sleeveless workers jackets, cropped trousers as well as a profuse footwear selection of capped-toe oxfords and moc-toe high tops.  Notably confident at the collection’s unveiling, Oliver Spencer was recently nominated for a 2011 British Fashion Award for menswear designer.

Oliver Spencer Fisher Camo Jacket

As different patterns of Camo stealthily return to menswear bit by bit, its nice to have a homegrown designer fly the flag. Oliver Spencer returns with his take on the military fabric. Manufactured in London, England and made from classic British military camouflage fabric the Fisher jacket was one of the stand out pieces from Oliver’s menswear show earlier in the year. In Oliver’s own words ‘the fisher jacket is a sophisticated take on a varsity jacket.

Oliver Spencer Bedford Shoe

A nice derby style from one of my favourite UK designers. Oliver Spencer just released this all suede Beford, with a hint of brogue detailing. These are being called a “red brick” shoes on account of their rusty red soles. Kept to a slim profile, the treads are actually Dainite soles making them much more grippy than other derby bottoms and quality proven. In green, the Oliver Spencer Bedford is a rich shot of earth tone, to quietly move you into winter.
