I LOVE IT….do you?
As the anticipation was building today leading up to Apple’s WWDC, the much talked-about iPhone 5 has officially been unveiled. The iPhone 4/4S successor is expectedly impressive with an all glass and aluminum body and structure. Living up to much of the rumors and early grapevine conversations, the iPhone 5 arrives with some subtle and other substantial changes.
Touted by Apple as the world’s “thinnest smartphone,” the phone weighs in at 112 grams and is 7.6mm thick and 18% thinner than before. Taller than the previous generation phones, the iPhone 5 boasts a 326ppi Retina display with a four inch screen at 1136 x 640 resolution. The screen is the same width as previous models yet slightly taller. Offered in two colors, white or black, the white body style will feature an aluminum backing while the black iteration will feature a black anodized backing.
The increased screen size also bumps up your springboard space bringing about five rows of icons in addition to the shortcut bottom row. All of the Apple first party Apps have been updated to be optimized for the new screen including the iWork suite as well as iMovie and GarageBand.
Numerically, the iPhone 5 takes it to the next step and includes a powerful A6 Processor inside which is expected to bring 2x CPU processing as well as 2x graphics performance while still consuming less energy. The A6 processor is 22% smaller than the previously installed A5 processor.
The iPhone 5 will run on LTE — meaning the phone will operate on the fastest cellular data network around. For U.S. cell phone providers, you can expect Sprint, AT&T and Verizon to run the iPhone 5 on LTE initially.
Apple has improved the battery life of the new iPhone with an expected talk time and browsing time of eight hours on 3G or LTE while WiFi will run you about 10-hours talk time/browsing.
The phone’s camera has been slightly downsized (approximately 25% thinner), although it features the same iPhone 4S, 8-megapixel camera at an f/2.4 aperture. It also features a dynamic low light mode intended to improve image quality within low light conditions. Video has been improved to film at 1080p with face detection, improved image stabilization and the user can also take photos while filming video. The front facing camera will film at an improved 720p, for HD FaceTime and will also include backside illumination.
New “Lightning” Dock Connector:
Perhaps one of the most notable changes of the iPhone 5 is the creation of a new connector which is being called, “Lightning.” Doing away with the old iPod connector, Lightning is 80% smaller than the previous connector and is reversible creating a more user friendly, ease-of-use.

When I first spotted those leaked images of what was claimed to be the next-generation iPhone’s rear panel, I wasn’t keen on the two-tone aluminum look, and I found myself wondering what Jony Ive was up to inside Apple’s design labs. But now that I’ve seen a few mockups of that design, I’ve changed my mind, and come October I would love this to be at the end of those long queues at Apple. In fact, the latest mockups, created by Martin Hajek, look absolutely incredible.
Streetwear giant A Bathing Ape is introducing a new label into its fashion family. Taking the moniker Aape BY A BATHING APE, the range is set to slot in between the current A Bathing Ape and BAPE Kids range, hoping to attract the disposable income of the teenage market. The style and designs reflect a return to an older style BAPE, no more so than in the choice of logo. A lower price range has also been attached, with T-shirts starting at approximately $48 and parkas at $120 USD). In what is probably the biggest move from the brand since the takeover by I.T, it will be interesting to see in what direction this collection takes the company. The Aape BY A BATHING APE 2012 spring/summer collection will be available soon at BAPE stores worldwide. I personally thing that this will be available for wholesale at be in varied stores in a couple of seasons just like Mr Bathing Ape. Keep your eyes here for more of the collection as the revealed.
In the light of all the buzz that has been circulating around Apple products, Ciccaresedesign has taken the opportunity to imagine what the iPhone 5 might resemble. The Italian based company is no stranger to reinventing Apple products and with the iPhone 5 having no face yet, this one sure puts great anticipation in the product. Ciccaredesign’s take offers a much more organic look for the iPhone, truly emphasizing the humanistic and almost second nature feel that iPhones provide through user interaction. Perhaps this could be what Apple is aiming at for their next phone. I love all the concept designs check out my fav here

I’m still a little gutted that the iPhone 5 wasnt released last year..but all my broken dreams will be fixed in a flash if the iPhone 5 looks like this concept. Antonio De Rosa, a designer for ADR Studios, has created a gorgeous next-generation iPhone concept that he’s calling the “iPhone SJ.” This work of beauty features an edge-to-edge capacitive touchscreen, 10 megapixel camera, A6 processor, and a polycarbonate body that’s about as light as you can imagine.
In De Rosa’s fictional world, the iPhone SJ would be the best smartphone on the planet. And based off his concept work, I would have to agree. While I’m not sure how I feel about the Apple logo placement at the top of the screen, the iPhone SJ looks like a wonderful, futuristic device. I would definitely buy one, but I’d be a little afraid of breaking it. How much thinner can the iPhone really get?
Today Apple announced the release of the new iPhone 4S. Next to a faster processor, impressive graphical performance, the phone also features longer battery power, an intelligent new antenna, faster data up- and downloading and more. This is the first iPhone world phone, supporting both GSM and CDMA networks. The new camera comes equipped with 8 megapixel chip and promises much better pictures sharpness. Also the camera now features face detection, 1080p HD video recording and a better white balance. In other exciting news, you can now project your iPhone 4S screen onto a bigger screen, using AirPlay Mirroring – it works wired and wireless.
One of the most impressive features is for sure the ‘Siri’ voice recognition and command tool. You can simply ask what time it is anywhere in the world or what weather it will be tomorrow, and the phone will spit out the answer immediately. You can even make calendar appointments and reminders by voice with Siri, from the demo the tool is very impressive. You can search ask ‘Search Wikipedia for…’ and Siki will give you the answer. Anything from ‘Call Mom’, ‘Set appointment for 9pm’, ‘How Do I Get Home’, ‘Email George about the trip’, and much more will work with Siri.
In terms of design, the phone looks exactly like the current iPhone 4, will come in both black and white. Pre-orders for the phone start on October 7th and it will officially release on October 14th. There will be 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions. (Via engadget)
