Backing the trens at the moment with florals & Navajo printed sneakers, Urban Outfitters has partnered with New Balance on two summer-appropriate styles of the 205 runner. Dressed with a patterned canvas base with tonal suede overlays, the kicks feature a padded collar, cushioned footbed, rope laces and ACTEVA foam midsole. Ndurance rubber outsoles provide long-wearing durability. The orange colourway carries a tropical floral print with orange stitched New Balance branding, while its blue-hued counterpart is adorned with multi-colored horizontal stripes and red stitched brand logo. New Balance 2012 Summer “Union Jack” Collection

To celebrate the start of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London in July, New Balance has created a special collection of Union Jack-inspired colorways. Featuring the brand’s fabled 574 and 620 silhouettes, each pair comes in various combinations of red, white and blue with metallic gold accents. Complete with either a gum or black rubber outsole, all six pairs from New Balance’s “Union Jack” collection are due to hit retailers in the weeks ahead.

New Balance 501 Ballistic Pack

Dropping around the 3rd quarter of 2012 will be this New Balance 501 ballistic pack. I really like all four solid colorways in forest green, red, blue and black in the pack with each being comprised of a nice combination of suede and ballistic nylon. Other nice touches include the contrasting white stitching and the gum soles featured on each sneaker.

New Balance x K-Way U420 Pack

Recently, New Balance have been working closely with some of the most revered labels and retailers around, producing pieces that push the boundaries both aesthetically and functionally whilst still sympathetically adhering to authenticity and tradition. This season’s K-Way collaboration is no exception with two classic styles subtly reworked, each carrying the signature details that make both labels so highly regarded.

Borrowing elements from each other, the classic track and field silhouette of the New Balance U420 and the original pac-a-mac, the K-Way Claude, have been developed to work in tandem, creating a clean, contemporary collection which is tastefully considered yet so easy to simply throw on. The ‘Claude’ is K-Way’s signature style, named after it’s creator, Leon-Claude Duhamel, and inspired by his obsession with creating a waterproof jacket that was as accessible than a standard umbrella. Constructed from a heat-sealed lightweight Nylon, this classic piece has functionality at its core with the jacket being easily folded into a secluded zip closure pocket to the back. The New Balance reworking features the classic Claude features with new zip placket tape colourways and dual branding to the left chest.

Some of the features from the jacket have their way to the complementary trainer. The U420 is a definitive New Balance style with its slim profile and lightweight make-up. The reworked silhouette utilises the nylon taffeta from the jacket, marrying it with traditional suede overlays and cushioned three-layer sole unit with dual branded tongue finishing off this 1980′s classic. New Balance 420 Powder Blue & Grey

New Balance is now offering its venerable 420 in a handsome Powder Blue/Grey colorway. Domestically made in England in the New Balance Flimby factory, the low-profile 420 is constructed from suede and nylon with an EVA sole, and offered in a style and colorway celebrated by successful U.S. track & field programs of years past. This particular color offering comes with two pairs of laces — letting you coordinate between either White, or Blue. Snag your own pair of 420s at Commonn.

New Balance ‘Pro Court’

Normally, when people think of New Balance, the first thing that would probably come to mind is their range of running sneakers, then the second might be all the chunky tech-laden soles that made their classic runners so comfortable. So these low-profile vulcanised court shoes are probably somewhat of a curveball.

The Pro Court sneaker forgoes any type of performance technology and keeps things basic, while the colourways are all nice and simple. It’s available in both high and low cuts, as well as leather and canvas uppers.

New Balance x Comme des Garcons eYe Junya Watanabe

New Balance has provided Junya Watanabe a great platform in recent seasons and this latest project is one of the finest I have seen to date. The New Balance x Comme des Garcons eYe Junya Watanabe 996 features the same vintage effect the designer applied to the collection he created with Nike a while ago that sparked great hysteria. The otherwise very neutral design on the 996 model makes for a compelling release.

New Balance 710 Hiker

I’ve seen a few sneaker hiker hybrids already this season. The New Balance 710 has its roots in Lou Whittaker of Rainier Mountaineering Guide Service, who used the a New Balance sneaker for hiking purposes and then collaborated with the label to create the New Balance Rainier a mid cut sneaker with a beefed up outsole. The Rainier holds the distinction of being used on a trek up Everest and is the precursor to the 710.

New Balance 576 ‘Made in UK’ Suedes

Here’s some more made-in-the-UK New Balance 576 goodness. This time of the suede variety. “Black, grey, navy and red makes for another quadrilogy of retro gems right here, beautifully executed. The New Balance collection this summer is an exceptional one, and these are our personal pick.
