Following in the no-pun-intended footsteps of Bootee Check, Spain’s Picasso Babe introduces a line of hype sneakers designed explicitly for babies. Each crocheted reappropriation is handmade and constructed entirely of cotton. Among the latest offerings are the adidas Yeezy 750 Boost, the Nike Air Yeezy II, and the Nike Air MAG. Fans of Kanye West will be pleased to know that several versions of the Air Yeezy are on offer including the coveted Air Yeezy II “Red October,” “Platinum” and “Black.” Although they’re certainly done as a hobby and just for kicks, the growing popularity of newborns in streetwear signals a shift in the subculture’s acceptance into the mainstream. If you like what you see, you can place an order via Etsy

2011 Nike MAG Presents Back for the Future Event Recap

After the excitement of yesterday with the teaser videos, then last with the release of the Nike MAG and finally the reality of today that most of us simply are unable to fund $6000+ to get our now over 30 year old hands on a pair of the holy grails of the sneakers. Hypebeast recap the unprecedented sneaker release event….

To conclude a huge day from Nike, the Oregon-based sports company hosted a mix of fans, industry personalities and influencers at Hollywood’s The Montalban theater. The event featured several different components hosted byCommunity star Joel McHale including a Back to the Future II DeLorean DMC-12, movie props on display, a musical performance from araabMUZIK, a special deleted scene, and appearances from Tinker Hatfield and Christopher Lloyd. However, the night of surprises was capped off by the auctioning of a signed ceramic reproduction (limited to 350 pieces) of the Nike MAG and the auctioning of the very first pair of Nike MAGs to be signed by Michael J. Fox. The current lot of Nike MAGs have hit eBay but only the pair auctioned tonight will feature a custom signature from Michael J. Fox.

Back to The Future II Nike Mag Marty McFly’s are HERE!

Here they are finally the NIKE AIR MAG…you now can be Marty McFly…

Why it has taken the Nike Air MAG as long as it has to surface outside the world of the silver screen looks has everything with making it special and connecting it to a very good cause. The launch is well tied to the The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Proceeds from the sale of the MAG go directly towards Mr. Fox’s Parkinson’s research foundation. 1500 pairs will be produced and auctioned off on eBay.  The charity auction starts tonight and ends on September 18th. “We wanted to translate the excitement people have for the ‘greatest shoe never made’ and for the Back to the Future into positive action,” said Mark Parker, CEO of Nike. “But the long term objective is to raise awareness so the Foundation can achieve their goal of eradicating Parkinson’s disease.

The Air Mag is the first rechargeable footwear from Nike were designed as an identical replica to the originals seen in the Back to the Future II movie. Some of the constant elements include the upper contours, the glowing LED panel and the electroluminescent Nike logo in the strap. The Nike Air Mag actually illuminates with the pinch of the “ear” of the high top, glowing for five hours per charge.

Nike Air Mag Back To The Future II

Edit: There are here!

OMG! (I’ve never wrote that or for that matter ever said it but this needs it). I’ve waited my entire life for this. The boys at NiceKicks think Nike will announce the Nike Air Mag tomorrow. The Nike Air Mag, as you may know, is the shoe that Marty McFly wore in Back to the Future II.  The dots are connecting: we’ve seen a patent that Nike filed for auto-lacing shoes before, there’s a teaser video floating around showing Marty McFly’s closet and the invitation NiceKicks received from Nike show the metal glasses Doc Brown famously wore in BTTF II. Stay tuned for what Tinker Hatfield has up his sleeve tomorrow…canny wait!
