Barbour DEPT(B) James Bond ‘Skyfall’ Commander Jacket

20130609-110012.jpg

You don’t have to ride a dirt bike across roof tops, fight an international terrorist on a moving train, or withstand an attack on your home by a rogue spy in an Apache helicopter to be worthy of wearing Commander Bond’s SkyFall Jacket. The jacket made a very limited appearance last season but sold out immediately due to the hype of the film. This multi-functional jacket, which draws inspiration from vintage sportswear mixed with modern fabrics and details. Ideal for any kind of dicey weather, the Commander Jacket is made with 6oz Sykoil Thornproof with a waxed cotton outer, a single welted chest pockets, and finished with two deep hip pockets. Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde Store & Tattoo Studio

Dr-Jekyll-and-Mr-Hyde-Tattoo-1

For those of you who dont know I am from up North, living now in Newcastle and for most of my working life based in Middlesbrough. I have worked for Triads, Psyche, Van Mildert, Cruise and owned my own streetwear store which are a few of the most well regarded stores within the UK fashion industry and I have always shouted that the North East is busting at the seams with creative people.

Two of them are Andrew Wetherell and Anthony Wilkinson, who I have known for a pretty long time.. Contradictory to the book by Robert Louis Stephenson, that explores both good and evil, life and death and the duality of human nature, in Andrew and Anthony it was a meeting of minds. Life long best friends always sharing a vision and excitement for all things original, different, quirky and out of the ordinary. Which is exactly what hits you once you step through the door. The decor is amazing with vinatge cabinets, stuffed animals and all storts of things that look like they have come from a 60’s hammer horror film set a bit like a Old Curosity Shop…right up my street!

Then we have the tattoo studio, Anthony is a self taught tattooist with a unique sense of style specialising in intricate dot and line work, taking influence and inspiration from the likes of victorian illustration, old copper plate engravings, vintage and geomectric designs. Rather than allowing you to be impulsive in your design choices, some of which you may come to regret, following a thorough consultation where Anthony will get to know you, your individual tastes and styles, he will design a bespoke piece of art for you that you will still love in years to come.

Finally you have the clothing side of things Hand picked rare vintage menswear… from work wear, rare military,  denim, outerwear to Americana & Rare sportwear which the likes of Levi’s Edwin, Polo, RRL, Woolrich, Baracuta, Adidas, LL Bean all make an appearance.  Check them out with their details below.

Apple’s 1986 Clothing Collection

20120618-071145.jpg

Believe it or not, the tech empire that is Apple once had its foot in the fashion realm, releasing a collection of apparel that truly harks back to the 1980s — an obvious showing of the change in times and style to the current simple and sleek designs. Released in 1986, the old images proudly showcases models in bold and vivid sports-casual wear for men, women and children. Raising an eyebrow from the irony of a fashion line coming from the man notorious for his mock turtleneck tops, the collection still tells of the company’s spirit, best resembled in its rainbow colored logo.

Folk Spring Summer 2012 : Van Mildert

Van Mildert has just taken delivery of their Spring Summer 12 Folk stock and have produced some pretty cool imagery to go with it. For me this is up there with one of Folk best seasons, with Autumn Winter 2012 being the best collection they have ever done. T-shirt prints are again strong, also make sure you cop the slightly reworked rain jacket which seemed to sell out in minutes last season. Buy the collection here
