Barbour DEPT(B) James Bond ‘Skyfall’ Commander Jacket

You don’t have to ride a dirt bike across roof tops, fight an international terrorist on a moving train, or withstand an attack on your home by a rogue spy in an Apache helicopter to be worthy of wearing Commander Bond’s SkyFall Jacket. The jacket made a very limited appearance last season but sold out immediately due to the hype of the film. This multi-functional jacket, which draws inspiration from vintage sportswear mixed with modern fabrics and details. Ideal for any kind of dicey weather, the Commander Jacket is made with 6oz Sykoil Thornproof with a waxed cotton outer, a single welted chest pockets, and finished with two deep hip pockets. A few of the standout products from the release are the Blast Jacket, Keegan Shirt, Sporting Quilt and Sharp Crew.

Barbour Colour Reborn International Jacket Collection SS12

Credited with the creation of the original waxed waterproof polyester motorcycling jacket, Barbour is an iconic British label with a historically rich pedigree dating back nearly 120 years. Their most classic piece has become the standard for waxed jackets with Spring Summer 2012 seeing Barbour giving two of their most technical and iconic jacket styles a healthy dose of color (including the belted A7-inspired jacket popularized by Steve McQueen). Barbour ‘North’ Jacket

t’s a bit misleading to say that this is a “new” jacket from Barbour; every product that British heritage company produces is neccesarily infused with DNA of John Barbour, who created the eponymous J Barbour & Sons in 1894. As the fortunes of heritage labels have skyrocketed in recent years, few labels have enjoyed such a robust rebirth, while maintaining tangible continuity with their roots, as Barbour. The label hasn’t been resting entirely on it’s famed laurels, and is striking while the iron is hot – the Barbour x Tokihito Yoshida collection, and the SOPHNET. x Barbour Bedale Jacket, for example. The strictly in-house designs are also noteworthy, as evidenced by the newly released North Jacket. The jacket is a classic style remixed in a shorter slimmer block, and makes use of seam sealed 2.5 layer technical fabric, and includes a technical hood from Barbour’s AW 2010, and a detachable waist bag which can store the jacket. Fans of Nanamica, which has been emulating this style lately, will appreciate the clean lines and color palette here. The North Jacket is available from Barbour now.

Barbour Steve McQueen Jacket

Today I spent an enjoyable 6 hours at Barbours HQ viewing & buying the SS11 collections. Barbour celebrates the  75th anniversary of the international jacket. next year part of the celebrations is a special project that pays tribute to the iconic Steve McQueen. Officially slated to release on January 11th at the WP Store in Florence, the jacket will be just a dose of a larger presentation that will feature additional jackets, shirts, T-shirts, and knitwear, all inspired by the late American actor. Stay tuned for further information and more looks into the capsule as the new year approaches.

Rockport x Barbour

Rockport announces its latest collaborative project, this time done alongside Barbour, in a limited edition affair for the Holiday 2010 season. The collaboration features authentic Barbour waxed cotton fabric, Barbour heritage tartans, Barbour hardware as well as an integrated adiPRENE by adidas footbed, which provides superior shock absorption at the heel strike. Throughout the collection Rockport has paid attention to considerable details including hand stitched linings, beautiful pull up leathers, and rawhide laces. In addition Rockport has used its patented Walkability outsole, which helps mimic the natural walking stride by assuring a smooth strike of the foot and an efficient roll and flex of the foot throughout the walking motion. Looks like they are only getting released across the pond for now.

Barbour x Tokihito Yoshida

ack in March the prospect of summer filled our heads with thoughts of shorts, espadrilles, polo shirts and sunglasses. Now that it’s June and the weather’s hopeless we remember that summer style actually means jeans and mid-weight coats.

Mid-weight coats don’t come much better than Barbours, and Barbours don’t come much better than when they’re designed by Tokihito Yoshida. This quilted version is from Barbour’s Beacon Heritage Autumn/ Winter collection and it’s available middle of July
