Vans Golden Coast Collection

Vans-Classics-Golden-Coast-Collection-for-Fall-2014-570x380Revisiting the early days of VANS, the Golden Coast Collection pays homage to South California’s budding skate and surf scene at the time. Featuring an abundance of VANS’ signature checkerboard design on the Authentic, Classic Slip-On, Style 36 and Old Skool in the original form, the retro-themed designs also include the Era and Sk8-Hi Reissue in throwback colourways of deep water, red, dress blues, and spectra yellow. Celebrating both VANS’ heritage as well its impact on SoCal culture then and now. I’m not sure if these are getting a UK release as yet.

The Beatles x Vans “Yellow Submarine” Collection

20140127-213239.jpg

No matter the kind of music this audience appreciates, it’d be hard to find someone who can deny the influence of The Beatles. Legends not just in their hometown of Liverpool but well into the far stretches of the earth, The Beatles’ musical canon represents progression in rock n’ roll, all the while composed with effortless pop sensibilities. It makes sense then, that Vans would team up with the Fab Four for a collection of four collaborative silhouettes – this time celebrating the band’s hallmark Yellow Submarine film. Taking the Authentic, Era, Sk8-Hi, and Slip-On silhouettes, artwork nodding to the Sea of Monsters, “All You Need is Love,” and the band members themselves adorn the uppers of the shoes. Pick up the pieces from this special release beginning March 1

Supreme x Vans x Bruce Lee

Next up for Supreme is this upcoming collaboration with Vans on a Bruce Lee-themed footwear pack. The “Bruce Lee” pack offers up the Sk8-Hi and Authentic silhouettes with Bruce Lee graphics featured throughout. The Sk8-Hi features a large Bruce Lee graphic printed across the quarter and will be offered in two colourways. The Authentic features a collage print of Bruce Lee across the entire canvas upper and will be offered in three colorways. No word yet on a release date but a release sometime towards the end of this year seems likely. Stay tuned for more.

Vans x Engineered Garments

In the sneaker world, it seems like new collaborations drop every hour on the hour, but this is one that’s definitely worth talking about. Engineered Garments designer Daiki Suzuki has a way of making even the most mundane clothes fresh and new. His vision of Americana filtered through a keen eye for fit, finish, fabric, and a nod to the future is what netted him our award as the Best New Menswear Designer in America in 2008. An avid surfer, it’s not too surprising to see Suzuki collaborating with storied sneaker brand Vans. The Vault by Vans line has always offered interesting takes on old classics from the likes of WTAPS and Taka Hayashi, but the Engineered Garments collab takes things to a different level. Influenced by ’70s skate rags and an emphasis on quality materials, the Authentic LX gets reimagined in a hardy 12 oz. Sunforger cotton canvas and a reversed olive sateen, but the real star is the Classic Slip-On LX, done up in three different colored leathers–the kicker is that both uppers mix up smooth leather with a slubby, unifinished hide. It’s an awesome wabi-sabi twist on a classic sneaker.

The shoes launch on Tuesday, September 10
