California-based brand Thorocraft was founded in 2009 and has become known for paring modern technology and rebellious bold style with classic footwear silhouettes. Upon completion, each shoe is thoroughly inspected and only after meeting the brand’s strict construction requirements will their signature heel rivet be set as the seal of approval and mark of quality. Here is a preview of their fantastic, upcoming Spring/Summer 2014 collection. You can bag yourself a pair here

Saucony Grid 9000 Premium

These three colourways of the Saucony Grid 9000 have been well received. Saucony is in a good place, they don’t saturate the market with kicks but sit back and drop selective premium SKU’s. Nothing crazy here, just premium materials and nicely styled colorways. Find the sneakers at Saucony dealers.

Nike Roshe Run GPX Black Tiger Camo

nike-roshe-run-gpx-black-tiger-camo-1

Despite its seemingly simple design, Nike‘s fan-favorite Roshe Run has actually become quite the canvas for NSW, sporting everything from woven synthetics and frayed canvas construction to floral and “Metric” motifs, football-inspired designs, and the addition of Dynamic Flywire. The shoe has even been transformed into a mid-top design and featured as part of a seasonal City pack with nods to New York, Paris, Tokyo, and London. Now, in a move seemingly long overdue, Nike has thrown camo into the mix with the introduction of a “Black Tiger Camo” take on the kicks. Donning a Black/Black-Sail-Mercury colorway, the shoe pairs a predominately black make-up with a white sole, speckled laces, Solarsoft cushioning, and a classic tiger camo motif across the entirety of the upper. Available here later on this season

Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde Store & Tattoo Studio

Dr-Jekyll-and-Mr-Hyde-Tattoo-1

For those of you who dont know I am from up North, living now in Newcastle and for most of my working life based in Middlesbrough. I have worked for Triads, Psyche, Van Mildert, Cruise and owned my own streetwear store which are a few of the most well regarded stores within the UK fashion industry and I have always shouted that the North East is busting at the seams with creative people.

Two of them are Andrew Wetherell and Anthony Wilkinson, who I have known for a pretty long time.. Contradictory to the book by Robert Louis Stephenson, that explores both good and evil, life and death and the duality of human nature, in Andrew and Anthony it was a meeting of minds. Life long best friends always sharing a vision and excitement for all things original, different, quirky and out of the ordinary. Which is exactly what hits you once you step through the door. The decor is amazing with vinatge cabinets, stuffed animals and all storts of things that look like they have come from a 60’s hammer horror film set a bit like a Old Curosity Shop…right up my street!

Then we have the tattoo studio, Anthony is a self taught tattooist with a unique sense of style specialising in intricate dot and line work, taking influence and inspiration from the likes of victorian illustration, old copper plate engravings, vintage and geomectric designs. Rather than allowing you to be impulsive in your design choices, some of which you may come to regret, following a thorough consultation where Anthony will get to know you, your individual tastes and styles, he will design a bespoke piece of art for you that you will still love in years to come.

Finally you have the clothing side of things Hand picked rare vintage menswear… from work wear, rare military,  denim, outerwear to Americana & Rare sportwear which the likes of Levi’s Edwin, Polo, RRL, Woolrich, Baracuta, Adidas, LL Bean all make an appearance.  Check them out with their details below.

Wolsey London Store Opening

Last Thursday night I had the pleasure to joining influential buyers, bloggers, and general movers and shakers from the menswear industry (don’t know why I was invited!?) to the opening of British Heritage brand, WOLSEY’s flagship store in good auld London Town.

Regular readers will know I have done a number of posts regarding Wolsey’s products, the main reason being I believe that this brand has been in hibernation for a long time, and now on the cloud of the heritage culture we have created in the industry will reach heights that it hasn’t before in its 257 years.

So then the store…. Located on Brewer Street in the heart of Soho, the store feels like Wolsey’s ethos contemporary styling of iconic classics. Brushed steel beams, exposed brick walls, aged wooden tables and original draper’s cabinets. To be honest it was totally what I expected the shop would look and thats not a criticism, it does what it says on the tin not another brand that produces a cutting edge design on the facia and interior and forgets that it no way reflects the product thats housed in it. The product, ascetics and the feel of the store perfectly fit together for me a store where you want to shop.

Check out the store for yourselves

Folk Spring Summer 2012 : Van Mildert

Van Mildert has just taken delivery of their Spring Summer 12 Folk stock and have produced some pretty cool imagery to go with it. For me this is up there with one of Folk best seasons, with Autumn Winter 2012 being the best collection they have ever done. T-shirt prints are again strong, also make sure you cop the slightly reworked rain jacket which seemed to sell out in minutes last season. Buy the collection here

Drug Store Beams Collection

BEAMS is a multifaceted fashion giant in Tokyo, catering predominantly for the casual wear segment. Within their company, they established bpr BEAMS back in 1992 to tackle non-fashion related products. Now, bpr BEAMS is launching an exciting new line dubbed, DRUG STOREBEAMS. The concept of this line is to create tongue in cheek stationery goods with a medical theme. It’s premiere products revolve around the idea of ‘Grotesque but Cute’, where eyeballs, brain, bones, heart and other medical equipments are transformed into pens, key chains, highlighter markers and stress balls. This line is definitely experimental, however it should find its niche in the diverse Japanese market. All of the products are available at BEAMS stores Japan wide right now.

The Chimp Store: “Barnet of the Apes” Editorial

The Chimp Store presents a quirky editorial this season, that is to some extent literal to what the store name implies. Enlisting photographer Harlton Chesterton to come up with a series of black and white images, the Leeds-based retailer flaunts a vast selection of beanies as worn by the ape-masked models. Titled “Barnet of the Apes,” the lookbook draws attention to select stocked brands including Crooks & Castles, UNDFTD, HUF and Dickies. Be sure to check out the editorial above.
