aka Hayashi returns to his roots in authentic sneaker design for his latest Vault by Vans collection. For his ninth instalment of footwear, the designer revisits the forms of iconic Vans silhouettes to introduce a new take on the Half Cab alongside his reinterpretation of the Sk8-Hi. Available in black and classic blue iterations, the TH Half Cab LX brings back the style of ’80s and early ‘90s on the original Half Cab with pattern blocking, colors and graphics utilized in each design are influenced by street fashion of the era. Taka adds his own twist to the mid-top as he details each pair with batik-inspired prints throughout the upper and midsole. Perforated paneling, custom embroidery and revamped Half Cab branding finish each pair.
Debuting in classic blue and syrah renderings, the TH Court Hi LX is a re-imagining of the Sk8-Hi infused with vintage athletic sneaker styling. The premium aesthetic presents deluxe suede and canvas upper construction, padding-free ankle wrap and tonal stitching which retraces the sidestripe and ribbed collar featured on the original Sk8-Hi. Hayashi has also reworked Van Doren Hawaiian imagery, dubbed the TH Paradise print, which spreads across the quarter panels and tongue fragments of the TH Court Hi LX. Both silhouettes will arrive at select retailers this September.
