Nike Tennis 2011 Wimbledon Collection For Roger Federer

Of the four Grand Slam championships in tennis, only Wimbledon lacked the word “open”.  Partly because the feat to play on the All England Club‘s grass courts itself is already an unique experience.  The oldest among the four and considered by many to be the most prestigious, the remarkable lore and history embedded here, such as the longest tennis match ever at last year’s championship, makes an appearance here a moment to behold. This is especially true for Roger Federer, who is looking forward to win back his number #1 world rank from his long time rival, Rafael Nadal. In support of his intention, Nike and Nike Tennis designed the 2011 London Collection for the most successful tennis player to date.

In accordance to Wimbledon’s “all white” uniform policy, the Roger Federer x Nike Tennis Collection for 2011 Wimbledon is a mostly white affair, with accents in deep green as Federer’s request. Like all performance apparel,  Nike’s Dri-FIT fabric played a big role in the creation of the RF Trophy Lawn Polo and Trophy Woven Taped Short. All seams are Sonic Welded, a process which reduced the need of extra fabric or threads and lessen chafing. As with the clay courts of Roland Garros, the lawn surfaces of Wimbledon are notoriously unpredictable. To compensate Federer’s astonishing speed with sure footing,  Nike turned to Lunar Vapor 8 Tour again. With its full length Lunarlon foam as outsole for supple support and agility, its Flywire overlay “lock down” each foot for a snug fit, thus ensure Federer to stomp out the competition. See Roger Federer in his new Wimbledon kit starting on June 20th.
