Stone Island 30 Archivio Website

St

The www.stoneisland30.com website will be launched at the beginning of February. The website is dedicated to STONE ISLAND 30, the exhibition which has been held last June at the Stazione Leopolda in Florence which I was lucky enough to attend, (check out the images here) produced in collaboration with Fondazione Pitti Discovery and with the Patronage of the City of Florence. The significant videos and photos will document , historicized and spread the exhibition.

The celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Stone Island started in Florence with the exhibition and the launch of the book “Stone Island Archivio ’982’012″. The connection between Stone Island and the city of Florence has been strengthened this week by the unveiling of the brand fifth Italian Flagship store.

Just a quick one here…I’m in Florence for the Pitti tradeshow and was invited to the opening of Stone Island’s new Florence store. So the usual turning up at these openings and the the street is full of the industries movers & shakers and the store is always too full to get in. Any how on this occasion something was telling me to squeeze into the store (might of been the SI goodie bag!) Once in the store I spied these bad boys. Even though my day job is to buy this particular brand for a number of stores also I read endless blogs I knew nothing of this collaboration between New Balance & Stone Island. Two colourways, this and a white/grey version. Soon as I find and info on the materials etc I will let you know. The facts are €239 and they are not going to be available in the UK oh and I have a size 9 in the orange !!

Stone Island 30th Anniversary 30/30 Jacket 0057154TTY2

I know i keep banging on about this 30th anniversary collection but how can you stop with product like this…The 30-30 jacket is designed to embody 30 years of innovation, incorporating a range of Stone Island’s most advanced signature technologies. Combining an outer jacket and liner, both of which are reversible, the jacket may be worn in a total of 30 different configurations (yup that’s 30 jackets in one that’s £52.50 per jacket!) The outer parka is comprised of Raso Gommato – rubberised cotton satin – with the brand’s proprietary Mussola Prismatica coating on one side and an anti-drop treatment. The internal jacket, which may also be worn over the parka, combines Stone Island’s legendary ‘Liquid Reflector’ treatment with their heat-reactive, microencapsulated pigment technology, which causes the jacket to change colour in response to temperature. Stone Island 30 Exhibition, Florence

Last week I had the pleasure to be invited to Stone Island’s  launch of an exhibition to celebrate 30 years of their existence, showing  off their extensive archive with over 200 items which seeing them in all their glory blew me away. The exhibition dates, outlines the treatments, production and processes that resulted in their creation. On display is the results of Stone Island’s experimentation and innovation that has made them the leading outerwear brand on the planet.  Some of the earliest ‘archive’ jackets on display are so innovative that other brands couldn’t produce them now 30 years on. If your a Stone Island fan or even just love amazing products get yourself there…

The exhibition will be open to the public from now to 7 July 2012 Closed on Monday and Tuesday – Free Entrance

Stone Island 30th Anniversary- Tela Stella Jacket 00571544T1Y1

20120625-154733.jpg

With 2012 marking thirty years of Stone Island, the Autumn Winter collection is something of a celebration with a selection of anniversary pieces that revive and rework iconic styles throughout the brands history.

In 1982, Stone Island was founded with just one fabric in 6 different colours. Thirty years later, the exact replica from the first collection can be seen in this jacket. This exclusive fabric was inspired by a study on the technical and functional features of tarpaulins for military trucks. This cotton cloth is impregnated on both sides with contrasting pigment resin. The fabric undergoes a long lasting enzyme wash to achieve a faded appearance. The result is a wind resistant material, with a flavour of marine old weather corroded oilskin pieces. Available for Pre Order here.

Stone Island 30th Anniversary Collection

I first seen this collection roughly 6 months ago but wasn’t allowed to use any images. We all know Stone Island and what it stands for. Autumn Winter 2012 sees their 30th anniversary and for one season only they have produced a collection celebrating it’s origins and it’s second to none technology used in its garments. The first item to get the army of fans hot under the collar is the badge design by my calculations the 8th (or 9th) in the companies history. Then there is obviously the outerwear & knitwear.. I won’t go in to too much detail as I’m planning a post about them individually but here are some images to wet your whistle…be warned though it’s not gonna be cheap!
