Comme des Garçons SHIRT and Supreme recently came together to present an editorial previewing their Spring/Summer 2014 collection. Featured patterns for the season included simple pairings of polka dot and fine stripes in red and black. These appeared across a selection of caps and shirts, including a snap button-up with a mandarin collar. Other items of mention included both a printed graphic tee and jacket featuring NYC skateboard Harold Hunter. This editorial showcased the talents of models Sara Grace Powell, Aaron Bondaroff, Alex Olson and Tyshawn Jones.
Today, French label A.P.C. has released its pre-Spring 2014 collection. It seems like it’s only now starting to get cold and therefore it might seem a little early for a Spring collection. But perfect for in between, A.P.C. delivers warm jackets, sweaters, knitwear, T-shirts, shirts and a small range of accessories as part of the collection. You can shop the full collection now in A.P.C. stores.
Once again it is June, also known as menswear month in the fashion calendar. A few days ago, London Collections succesfully kicked off the global menswear circuit, followed by Florence, Milan and last but not least, Paris. The summer buying season is always a favourite of mine and Pitti Uomo being my favourite show. The Italians just know how to ‘do it’ …. so I am curently enjoying (and mostly not enjoying, way too hot for work) 40 degrees of sunshine in Florence.
Style Style outside and inside of the show is big business for the hundreds of photographers of fashion blogs and the internet fame hungry visitors some of which I swear rock fancy dress just to get a picture taken! Anyway check out a round up of some of the amazing dressed people (and a few not so amazing!)
Constructing another luxurious iteration to a classic silhouette, Paris fashion house Balmain has released a Riders Jacket with tones of self-assertion. Made with meticulous detail, wrinkled lamb leather panels the sturdy black body, while frontal horizontal zips dramatize the jacket with added elegance, acting as both functional and modish designs on the grainy backdrop. The leather wrist fasteners are fetching additions to the jacket, allowing wind and weather resistance. Stylish and practical, Balmain reiterates timeless staples with innate charisma. Following last season’s ode to swimming and cycling, Opening Ceremony again looks to dual inspiration to reinterpret adidas Originals classics – this time focusing on running and tennis as design touchstones to produce pieces inspired by the prints and bright colorways of the 1990s. The New York Run comes in three different styles, each features a combination of suede, leather, ripstop nylon and perforated leather. The New York Run can be purchased here
I really like this COMME des GARCONS SHIRT classic baseball shirt, its very clean & crisp…perfect for the Summer. Obviously inspired by the short-sleeve jerseys worn on baseball diamonds across the world, this casual menswear take on the piece features cotton poplin construction and subtle details like pleats at the back yolk, dropped shoulders, a curved hem and a single breast pocket.
Today marks the official announcement and debut of the DKNY and Opening Ceremony collaboration for Spring/Summer 2013. With an undeniable design aesthetic pulled from 90s hip-hop/sportswear culture, monochromatic pieces include tees, pants, jumpsuits, hooded sweatshirts and more. In speaking about the project Carol Lim commented, “DKNY was a pioneer of streetwear fashion in the Nineties. We have been longtime fans of the brand and were very excited to bring back select, quintessential styles that feel fresh even today.” The entire range of products that make up the collaboration can be purchased online for between $145-$315 USD
When founders Prathan Poopat and Flavio Girolami started Common Projects, their mission was to create minimalist, comfortable sneakers, made in Italy using only the finest materials. In addition to a utilitarian design, the shoes were virtually anonymous, with exterior branding limited to the article number and shoe size, factory-stamped in gold foil near the heel. The brand’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection is largely an extension of that original mission statement, with new slip-on sneakers, tennis shoes and crepe-soled loafers joining reliable standbys like the Achilles and Tournament, finished in new colours and materials for spring.
