Pitti Uomo Spring Summer 2014, Florence Street Style

The style raconteur pitti

Once again it is June, also known as menswear month in the fashion calendar. A few days ago, London Collections succesfully kicked off the global menswear circuit, followed by Florence, Milan and last but not least, Paris. The summer buying season is always a favourite of mine and Pitti Uomo being my favourite show. The Italians just know how to ‘do it’ …. so I am curently enjoying (and mostly not enjoying, way too hot for work) 40 degrees of sunshine in Florence.

Style Style outside and inside of the show is big business for the hundreds of photographers of fashion blogs and the internet fame hungry visitors some of which I swear rock fancy dress just to get a picture taken! Anyway check out a round up of some of the amazing dressed people (and a few not so amazing!)

Ray-Ban Wayfarer Ice-Pop Collection

20130617-192150.jpg

Ray-Ban Wayfarers are simply the most iconic sunglasses ever. Everyone from JFK to Jay-Z has rocked a pair. They’re stylish but they’re not overpowering. But with the coloured versions I have always thought of as being a bit shit….kids at festivals and the Ting Tings did that for me!!! But I kind of like these ice versions. Choose from six different translucent colours that all give off a refreshing summer feel. They’ll be available to purchase later this month

Concept by Cruise x Trickers : The Unusual Suspects

Full-Comp-2000

Concept is the little brother of indi store Cruise…their first design collaboration is with master-shoemaker Trickers. The debut is a subtle slimmed down reworking of the classic long wing Richard & Bourton brogue. Each style has been given a unique character and name pertaining to each material used.

The “Habana” Longwing pays homage to all things Cuban (minus the ridiculous heel) constructed from rich Cuba waxed suede uppers and subtle brogue detailing. The shoe is finished off with a Barbour Welted Danite sole for added durability.

The “Aristocrat” Longwing pays homage to sartorial function and English eccentricity. Reworking the classic Richard Long Wing with a slimmed down contemporary fit they are hand made using the finest Naster Burnished calfskin and feature a bold contemporary twist in the form of a vibrant orange Itshide sole.

The “Artiste” Bourton Derby Brogue takes an obscure reference from the Sienna clay used in the production of oil paint pigments and is crafted from textured Sienna scotch grain leather and contrasting Dainite sole.

The “Highland Fox” Bourton Derby Brogue pays homage to the elusive fox of the Outer Hebrides seen here in rich coppery brown Reppelo suede.

Saucony Grid 9000 Premium

These three colourways of the Saucony Grid 9000 have been well received. Saucony is in a good place, they don’t saturate the market with kicks but sit back and drop selective premium SKU’s. Nothing crazy here, just premium materials and nicely styled colorways. Find the sneakers at Saucony dealers.

Bellroy Passport Sleeve

20130609-113329.jpg

I do a lot of traveling with my work and the biggest drag is the amount of time I spend in airports and all the shit that goes with it, including passport out passport back away boarding pass out boarding pass away (repeat this task unnecessary about 5-6 times per flight) so I’m always seeking out small solutions to make this experience more bearable. When Bellroy sent some samples to my office the first thing I picked up was the Passport Sleeve. This minimalist travel companion classily holds your most important documents in a case of premium leather and includes a handy pen along with storage for your passport, as well as multiple cards, tickets and boarding passes, but its forte is its size perfect to fit in a back or jacket pocket which makes it accessible with the greatest of ease.
