Mercedes Benz G-Class History Video

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class has offered 4-wheel drive functionality along with a boxy, workmanlike aesthetic since the late 1970s, and a new video from the German luxury automaker traces the history of a true automotive icon. The G-Class began as a military vehicle initially requested by the Shah of Iran, and is now a “cult item” with a dedicated fan club and loyal customer base who want to see it remain that way. The video features some of the G’s historic exploits, as well as interviews with designer Volker Leutz and head of Mercedes-Benz Classic Michael Bock, who discuss updating the G-Class while staying true to its roots. Check it out below.
